House Bill 6064

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6064 AS INTRODUCED 5-9-02
The Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act (NREPA) specifies that, with the exception of lands that are managed by other state agencies in carrying out their respective duties and responsibilities, the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has jurisdiction over the management, control, and disposition of all land under the public domain. The bill would amend the act to exclude from this provision state lands in which the state held mineral rights for the exploration and production of oil or gas, and grant the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) exclusive jurisdiction over those lands.
