Senate Bill 562 (as enrolled) - PUBLIC ACT 592 of 2002
Sponsor: Senator Valde Garcia
Senate Committee: Education
House Committee: Education
Date Completed: 1-28-03
CONTENT
The bill amended the Revised School Code to require the Department of Treasury to notify a school district or public school academy in the event the Department suspects irregularities in the district's or academy's administration of, or preparation of pupils for, a Michigan Educational Assessment Program test. The Department must notify the school district or public school academy of the suspected irregularities and allow at least five business days for school officials to respond, before reporting the suspected irregularities to any person or entity not involved in scoring or administering the test.
The bill took effect on December 23, 2002, and was tie-barred to House Bill 5049, which was enacted as Public Act 640 of 2002. (Public Act 640 contains generally the same provisions as the Senate bill but applies to the Department of Treasury and any other State agency.)
