House Bill 4945 (H-1) would amend the Local Historic Districts Act to replace references in the Act to the Bureau of History of the Michigan Department of State with references to the "Department of History, Arts, and Libraries" (DHAL) (which House Bill 4941 (S-1) would create).

House Bill 4946 (H-1) would amend the downtown development authority Act to require an authority to refer all proposed changes to the exterior of sites listed on the State Registrar of Historic Sites and the National Register of Historic Places to the applicable historic district commission and the DHAL. Currently all such proposed changes must be referred to the Secretary of State and the applicable historic district commission.

The bills would take effect August 6, 2001, and are tie-barred to House Bill 4941.
