        A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled

   "Natural resources and environmental protection act,"

   by amending section 43524 (MCL 324.43524), as amended by 1996 PA

   585.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

           Sec. 43524.  (1) A person shall not hunt wild turkey without

 2
      a wild turkey hunting license.   The fee for a resident wild

 3
      turkey hunting license is $13.00.  Beginning in 1999, the fee for

 4
      a resident wild turkey hunting license is $14.00.  Beginning in

 5
      2001, the  THE fee for a resident wild turkey hunting license is

 6
      $15.00.   The fee for a nonresident wild turkey hunting license

 7
      is $60.00.  Beginning in 1999, the fee for a nonresident wild

 8
      turkey hunting license is $65.00.  Beginning in 2001, the  THE

      fee for a nonresident wild turkey hunting license is $69.00.

       Applications for a wild turkey hunting license shall  SUBJECT TO

      THE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 40113A, THE COMMISSION MAY ISSUE AN

 2
      ORDER REQUIRING THAT ALL APPLICATIONS FOR WILD TURKEY HUNTING

 3
      LICENSES, OR APPLICATIONS FOR WILD TURKEY HUNTING LICENSES FOR

 4
      CERTAIN GEOGRAPHIC AREAS, be entered into a lottery designed and

 5
      run by the department.  A person selected in  the  A lottery,

 6
      upon meeting the requirements of this part, is authorized to pur-

 7
      chase a wild turkey hunting license.  The license shall be issued

 8
      for a specified hunting period and shall confer upon the holder

 9
      of the license the right to hunt wild turkeys.

           (2) THE DEPARTMENT MAY CHARGE A NONREFUNDABLE APPLICATION

      FEE NOT TO EXCEED $4.00 FOR EACH APPLICATION FOR A WILD TURKEY

      HUNTING LICENSE THAT IS ENTERED INTO A LOTTERY PURSUANT TO SUB-

13
      SECTION (1).

           (3)  (2)  From  the fee collected for each wild turkey hunt-

15
      ing license and application for a license  FEES COLLECTED UNDER

16
      SUBSECTION (1) OR (2), the following amounts shall be used for

17
      scientific research, biological survey work on wild turkeys, and

18
      wild turkey management in this state:

          (a) Resident wild turkey hunting license....$ 9.50

          (b) Nonresident wild turkey hunting license.$50.00

          (c) Senior wild turkey hunting license......$ 1.00

            (3) The department shall charge a nonrefundable application

      fee not to exceed $4.00 for each person who applies for a wild
