Hager, Whitmer, Jelinek, Bovin, Ehardt, DeVuyst, Phillips and Lemmons and referred to the Committee on Transportation.


        A bill to name a certain portion of highway I-69 the "Purple

   Heart Highway"; and to prescribe certain duties of the state

   transportation department.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

           Sec. 1.  That portion of highway I-69 beginning at the

 2
      intersection of I-69 east and U.S. 27 north in Clinton county and

 3
      extending east to exit 105 in Shiawassee county shall be named

 4
      the "Purple Heart Highway".

           Sec. 2.  The state transportation department shall only pro-

 6
      vide for the erection and maintenance of suitable markers indi-

 7
      cating the name of the highway when sufficient private contribu-

 8
      tions are received to completely cover the cost of erecting those

 9
      markers.
