        A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

   "The revised school code,"

   by amending section 1303 (MCL 380.1303), as amended by 1995

   PA 289.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

           Sec. 1303.  The board of a school district  shall not permit

 2
      any pupil to  MAY ADOPT ITS OWN LOCAL POLICY CONCERNING WHETHER

 3
      OR NOT A PUPIL MAY carry a pocket pager, electronic communication

 4
      device, or other personal communication device in school.  except

 5
      for health or other unusual reasons approved by the board, and

 6
      may develop penalties that it considers appropriate for a pupil

 7
      who violates this prohibition.
