A bill to allow state agencies and units of local government to place the national motto in public buildings in this state. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1. As used in this act: 2 (a) "State agency" means a department, board, commission, 3 office, agency, authority, or other unit of state government. 4 State agency includes a state institution of higher education. 5 (b) "Unit of local government" means a political subdivision 6 of this state, including school districts, community college dis- 7 tricts, intermediate school districts, public school academies, 8 cities, villages, townships, counties, and authorities, if the 9 political subdivision has as its primary purpose the providing of 10 local governmental service for citizens in a geographically 11 limited area of the state and has the power to act primarily on 12 behalf of that area. 04805'01 JLB 2 1 Sec. 2.
