A bill to amend 1895 PA 16, entitled "An act requiring the secretary of state and the deputy secretary of state and the private secretary and executive clerk of the governor to give bonds for the faithful discharge of their offi- cial duties," by amending section 1 (MCL 15.51). THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 1.That theTHE secretary of state and deputy secre- 2 tary of state of this state, and the private secretary and execu- 3 tive clerk of the governor of this state, shall be required 4 within 20 days after this actshall takeTAKES effect, and 5 their successors in office shall be required within 20 days after 6 entering upon the duties of their respective offices, to give 7 bonds to the people of the state of Michigan with 3 or more sure- 8 ties to be approved by theauditor generalSTATE TREASURER and 9 attorney general, conditioned for the faithful discharge of their 00811'01 JLB 2 1 official duties, and for the safe and lawful custody and 2 disposition of themoneysMONEY and property oftheTHIS 3 statewhichTHAT may beintrustedENTRUSTED to them or come 4 within their control. 5 The bond of the secretary of state shall be in the sum of 625,000 dollars$25,000.00, that of the deputy secretary of 7 state shall be in the sum of20,000 dollars$20,000.00, and the 8 bonds of the private secretary and the executive clerk of the 9 governor shall be each in the sum of5,000 dollars$5,000.00. 10 The bonds of the secretary of state and deputy secretary of state 11 shall be filed and kept in the office of theauditor general12 STATE TREASURER, and those of the private secretary and executive 13 clerk shall be filed and kept in the office of the secretary of 14 state. 00811'01 Final page.
