        A bill to amend 1895 PA 16, entitled

   "An act requiring the secretary of state and the deputy secretary
   of state and the private secretary and executive clerk of the
   governor to give bonds for the faithful discharge of their offi-
   cial duties,"

   by amending section 1 (MCL 15.51).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

             Sec. 1.   That the  THE secretary of state and deputy secre-

 2
        tary of state of this state, and the private secretary and execu-

 3
        tive clerk of the governor of this state, shall be required

 4
        within 20 days after this act  shall take  TAKES effect, and

 5
        their successors in office shall be required within 20 days after

 6
        entering upon the duties of their respective offices, to give

 7
        bonds to the people of the state of Michigan with 3 or more sure-

 8
        ties to be approved by the  auditor general  STATE TREASURER and

 9
        attorney general, conditioned for the faithful discharge of their

        official duties, and for the safe and lawful custody and

 2
        disposition of the  moneys  MONEY and property of  the  THIS

 3
        state  which  THAT may be  intrusted  ENTRUSTED to them or come

 4
        within their control.

             The bond of the secretary of state shall be in the sum of

 6
         25,000 dollars  $25,000.00, that of the deputy secretary of

 7
        state shall be in the sum of  20,000 dollars  $20,000.00, and the

 8
        bonds of the private secretary and the executive clerk of the

 9
        governor shall be each in the sum of  5,000 dollars  $5,000.00.

        The bonds of the secretary of state and deputy secretary of state

11
        shall be filed and kept in the office of the  auditor general

12
        STATE TREASURER, and those of the private secretary and executive

13
        clerk shall be filed and kept in the office of the secretary of

14
