        A bill to amend 1846 RS 14, entitled

   "Of county officers,"

   by amending section 82 (MCL 51.82).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

             Sec. 82.   Whenever  IF a sheriff  shall be  IS required, by

 2
        any statutory provision, to perform any service, in behalf of the

 3
        people of this state  ,  and for their benefit,  which shall not

 4
        be made  THAT IS NOT chargeable by law to his OR HER county, or

 5
        to some officer or other person, his OR HER account for such

 6
        services shall be audited by the  auditor general  STATE

 7
        TREASURER and paid out of the state treasury.
