        A bill to amend 1978 PA 323, entitled

   "Michigan health planning and health policy development act,"

   by amending section 4 (MCL 325.2004).

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

             Sec. 4.  (1) "Health service area" means an area designated

 2
        by the secretary pursuant to FORMER section 1511 of title  15  XV

 3
        of the public health  services  SERVICE act,  42 U.S.C.  300l,

 4
        as a health service area.

 5
             (2) "Health systems agency" means a conditionally or fully

 6
        designated health systems agency for a health service area within

 7
        this state designated pursuant to FORMER section 1515 of title

 8
         15  XV of the public health  services  SERVICE act.   ,

             (3) "Health systems plan" means a plan developed by a health

        systems agency pursuant to FORMER section 1513(b)(2) of title

             (4) "Institutional health services" means the health serv-

 4
        ices provided through health care facilities and health mainte-

 5
        nance organizations as defined under  section 1122 of the social

 6
        security act, 42 U.S.C. 1320a-1, or under the state certificate

 7
        of need program under Act No. 256 of the Public Acts of 1972, as

 8
        amended, being sections 331.451 to 331.462 of the Michigan

 9
        Compiled Laws  FEDERAL LAW, and includes the entities in or

10
        through which those services are provided.  The term does not

11
        include a Christian science sanatorium operated, or listed and

12
        certified, by the first church of Christ  ,  scientist, Boston,

13
        Massachusetts.

             Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take

15
        effect unless Senate Bill No. _____ or House Bill No. 5871

16
        (request no. 06393'01) of the 91st Legislature is enacted into

17
        law.
