A bill to amend 1972 PA 106, entitled "Highway advertising act of 1972," by amending section 9 (MCL 252.309), as amended by 1998 PA 533. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT: 1 Sec. 9. (1) Except for signs existing on March 31, 1972, a 2 permit shall be issued or denied BY THE DEPARTMENT within 10 3 business days after proper receipt of FROM THE DATE the permit 4 form and the permit fee IS RECEIVED from the applicant. A permit 5 shall not be issued for a sign which is prohibited by section 6 18(a), (b), (c), or (d). A permit shall not be issued for a sign 7 that violates this act unless the sign is eligible for removal 8 compensation under section 22. 9 (2) NO MORE THAN 10,000 PERMITS SHALL BE ALLOWED FOR SIGNS 10 IN THIS STATE.
