        A bill to abolish the right of dower.

               THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

             Sec. 1.  A wife's dower right, upon the death of her hus-

 2
        band, to a life estate in 1/3 of any land that the husband owned

 3
        in fee during his lifetime is abolished and unenforceable either

 4
        through statute or at common law.

 5
             Sec. 2.  This act does not affect, limit, or void any con-

 6
        tractual or other legal rights that the wife otherwise possesses

 7
        or acquires during the marriage.
