House Bill 4021

Sponsor: Rep. Gary Woronchak

Committee: Employment Relations, Training and Safety

Complete to 3-10-03

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4021 AS INTRODUCED 1-28-03

Currently, the weekly benefit rate for unemployment benefits is calculated by multiplying the individual's wages paid in the calendar quarter of the base period in which the individual was paid the highest total wages by 4.1 percent. (An individual also receives $6 per dependent for up to six dependents. The maximum weekly benefit rate that a person can receive is $362 per week.)

House Bill 4021 would amend the Michigan Employment Security Act to increase this multiplier to 4.5 percent.
