A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4260 AS INTRODUCED 2-20-03
Public Act 222 of 2000 amended the Michigan Penal Code to establish penalties for a "person in a relationship of trust" who embezzles the money or property of a "vulnerable adult". The bill would revise the definition of "person in a relationship of trust" to clarify that the term would apply to the following:
· A person who was a caregiver; relative by blood, marriage, or adoption; household member; or court-appointed fiduciary; or,
· Any person who was entrusted with or had assumed responsibility for the management of the vulnerable adult's money or property.
