A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4273 AS INTRODUCED 2-25-03

The bill would amend the Fire Prevention Code to specify that if a fire door is required by law in a building or structure, the fire door would have to have an illuminating door handle assembly connected to a power supply that allows the assembly to emit a light signal in case of a general power failure. The light signal would have to be sufficient to allow a person to locate and determine how to latch and unlatch the fire door.
