A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4409 AS INTRODUCED 3-19-03

House Bill 4409 would amend the Michigan Election Law to specify that when an officer of a county, city, village, township, or school district was the subject of a recall election, the board of canvassers could not certify the election results unless the majority of votes was in favor of recall, and further, that the "majority" totaled at least one vote more than the votes cast when the officer was elected for his or her term of office. Currently, an officer is recalled when a majority of the voting electors votes for the recall.
