A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4584 AS INTRODUCED 4-29-03
The bill would amend the sentencing guidelines portion of the Code of Criminal Procedure to specify that child abuse in the first degree would be a Class A felony with a statutory maximum of life imprisonment, child abuse in the second degree would be a Class D felony with a maximum term of imprisonment of eight years, third degree would be a Class F felony with a four-year maximum term of imprisonment, and child abuse in the fourth degree would be a Class G felony with a maximum of two years imprisonment.
The bill is tie-barred to House Bill 4583, which would make related amendments to the Penal Code.
