Complete to 6-2-03

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4768 AS INTRODUCED 5-28-03

The bill would amend the Paternity Act to require the court, in instances of a child born out of wedlock, to apportion the expenses of a mother's confinement and expenses in connection with her pregnancy between the parents based on each parent's ability to pay. The court would require the parent who had not paid to pay his or her share of the expenses to the other parent. The court could also order a parent to pay his or her share of expenses to someone other than a parent upon the request of someone other than the parent who had originally paid the expenses.
