A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5375 AS INTRODUCED 12-10-03

House Bill 5375 would amend the Michigan Transportation Fund Act to require that, on a biennial basis, the Department of Transportation, prepare and file for public inspection and review, the state’s transportation improvement program.  Currently, that program (prepared in a format similar to local transportation programs) is due on or before March 1 of each year.  Further, the bill specifies that within 30 days after receiving approval of the state transportation improvement program that is prepared and filed following the provisions of federal law, the improvement program must be filed with the commission.  Currently the law specifies that the state transportation program be filed with the commission on or before April 1 of each year.
