Committee: Family and Children Services
Complete to 3-23-04
A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5589 AS INTRODUCED 2-24-04
The bill would amend the Child Protection Law to specify that if, in the course of his or her investigation of an allegation of child abuse or neglect, a child protective services (CPS) investigator contacts an individual or family member of a child that is the subject of the allegation, the CPS investigator would have to advise the individual or family member of his or her name, who he or she represents, and that he or she is interviewing the individual or family member to discuss an allegation of child abuse or neglect. If the CPS investigator does not provide such information, the Family Independence Agency would institute a corrective action plan relating to the investigator.
MCL 722.628
