House Bill 5896 (H-1) As Reported from Committee
Sponsor: Rep. Taub
Committee: Commerce
HB 5896 (H-1) would amend 1972 PA 239, the McCauley-Traxler-Law-Bowman-McNeely Lottery Act, to require the Bureau of State Lottery to issue or deny the issuance of an initial or renewal lottery sales license no later than 90 days after an applicant files a completed application. If an applicant files an incomplete application, the Bureau would be required to notify the applicant within 30 days after receipt of the incomplete application, describing the deficiency and requesting the additional information. If the Bureau fails to issue or deny a lottery sales license within the time required, the Bureau would be required to return the license fee and reduce the license fee for the applicant’s next renewal application by 15%. Also, the bill would require a report on the number of initial and renewal applications received and completed within the 90-day time period, the number of applications denied, the number of applicants not issued a license within the 90-day time period, and the amount of money returned to licensees and applicants.
FISCAL IMPACT:
HB 5896 (H-1) would have no fiscal impact on the state or on local units of government.
