SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 4457

                                                                             A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled                                             

"Michigan vehicle code,"                                                    

by amending section 676 (MCL 257.676), as amended by 1980                   

PA 518.                                                                     

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1       Sec. 676.  (1) A  vehicle person shall not  be allowed

2   allow a motor vehicle to stand on a highway unattended without              

3   the brakes being set and engaging the parking brake or placing            

4   the vehicle in park and stopping the motor of the vehicle.  being           

5   stopped.  If the vehicle is standing upon a grade, the front                

6   wheels of the vehicle shall be turned to the curb or side of the            

7   highway.                                                                    

8       (2) A person who violates this section is responsible for a                 

9   civil infraction.
