SUBSTITUTE FOR

HOUSE BILL NO. 5280

                 (As amended December 10, 2003)                             

                                                                             A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled                                             

"The revised school code,"                                                  

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1305.                             

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

1   Sec. 1305.  If a public or nonpublic school is closed or                    

2   vacated due to a bomb threat, a school official shall not require           

3   a school employee to remain in or to search the school unless [the governing body that operates the school has ensured]

4   that employee has received appropriate training approved by the             

5   appropriate law enforcement agency dealing with bomb threats.
