SUBSTITUTE FOR
HOUSE BILL NO. 6173
(As amended September 29, 2004)
A bill to amend 1985 PA 87, entitled
"Crime victim's rights act,"
(MCL 780.751 to 780.834) by adding sections 4a, 33b, and 64a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 4a. (1) To facilitate compliance with 15 USC 1681g, a
2 bona fide victim of identity theft is entitled to [file a police report
3 with] a law enforcement agency in a jurisdiction where the alleged
4 violation of identity theft may be prosecuted as provided under
5 section 10c of chapter II of the code of criminal procedure, 1927
6 PA 175, MCL 762.10c[, and to obtain a copy of that report from that law enforcement agency].
7 (2) As used in this section, "identity theft" means that term
8 as defined in section 3 of the identity theft protection act.
9 Sec. 33b. (1) To facilitate compliance with 15 USC 1681g, a
