A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled
"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"
by amending section 74116 (MCL 324.74116), as added by 1995
PA 58.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 74116. The department shall designate the state parks
2 in which a park permit is required for lawful entry by motor
3 vehicle. The department shall designate only those parks in
4 which state facilities and services are provided for the public.
5 The department may designate portions of state parks where a park
6 permit is not necessary. The department shall post signs at
7 designated parks or designated portions of parks that state that
8 a motor vehicle park permit is required. A person shall not
9 enter any state park or portion of a state park in which a motor
10 vehicle park permit is required without a valid motor vehicle
1 permit affixed to the vehicle. A valid park permit procured
2 pursuant to section 74117
shall be permanently affixed to the
3 lower right-hand
corner of the windshield of any each
motor
4 vehicle entering a state park or portion of a state park in which
5 a motor vehicle park
permit is required. , except that The park
6 permit shall be affixed to the motor vehicle's windshield in the
7 area designated by the department. However, a park permit is not
8 required to be affixed to a motor vehicle while the motor vehicle
9 is being driven or parked within an established federal, state,
10 or county highway within a state park. The requirement to obtain
11 a motor vehicle park
permit does not apply to motor vehicles
12 any of the following:
13 (a) A recreational vehicle functioning as a stationary
14 primary camping shelter camped legally in and not moved from the
15 state park campground during the period of the camping stay. The
16 exemption provided for in this subdivision applies only if both
17 of the following conditions are met:
18 (i) The operation of the recreational vehicle is limited to
19 the date of arrival and the date of departure.
20 (ii) The recreational vehicle is part of a camp that
21 includes 1 additional motorized vehicle.
22 (b) A motor vehicle used in the operation or maintenance of
23 a state parks, to park.
24 (c) An
emergency vehicles, or to vehicle.
25 (d) A
state-owned or law enforcement motor vehicles
26 vehicle or private motor vehicles
vehicle being operated on
27 official state business.
