A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled
"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"
by amending sections 76505 and 76507 (MCL 324.76505 and
324.76507), as added by 1995 PA 58, and by adding section
76507a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 76505. The superintendent
of the Mackinac Island
2 state park director shall see to it that the United
States flag
3 is kept floating from the flagstaff at Fort Mackinac, and rules
4 relative thereto are the same as those that have governed in that
5 matter when the fort was in possession and occupancy by the
6 United States troops.
7 Sec. 76507. A Except
as provided in section 76504, a
8 person who willfully
cuts, peels, or otherwise injures or
9 destroys any tree
standing in Mackinac Island state park, or who
1 carries, draws,
leaves, or deposits anywhere within the park, any
2 filth, rubbish, or
garbage, operates a motor vehicle
on land
3 within the Mackinac Island state park is guilty of a misdemeanor
4 , punishable by imprisonment for not less than 10
days or
5 more than 60 93
days , or a fine of not less than $10.00 or
6 more than $50.00 $500.00,
or both, in the discretion of the
7 court plus the costs of prosecution.
8 Sec. 76507a. (1) A person shall not cut, peel, damage,
9 destroy, or remove a tree or other vegetation or state property
10 located in any park or other property under the control of the
11 commission, without written permission from the director.
12 (2) A person who violates subsection (1) is civilly liable to
13 the commission in a sum equal to triple the amount of damage,
14 destruction, or value of the property.
