A bill to designate Firefighters Memorial Day in the state
of Michigan.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 1. In recognition of the men and women who have lost
2 their lives while serving as firefighters in the state of
3 Michigan, September 11 of each year shall be known as
4 "Firefighters Memorial Day".
5 Sec. 2. On this day, all flags at public buildings shall be
6 lowered to half staff in honor and appreciation of fallen
7 firefighters. Each community throughout the state is encouraged
8 to conduct a memorial ceremony, and the state's citizens are
9 encouraged to pause and reflect on the dedicated professionals
10 who bravely chose to accept personal risk and made the ultimate
11 sacrifice while protecting the public.
