A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled
"Public health code,"
by amending section 16178 (MCL 333.16178).
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
1 Sec. 16178. (1) Unless otherwise necessary for a board to
2 fulfill national or regional testing requirements, the department
3 shall conduct examinations or other evaluations necessary to
4 determine qualifications of applicants for initial licensure or
5 registration at least annually and may conduct other
6 investigations or evaluations necessary to determine the
7 qualifications of applicants. A board may accept passing a
8 national or regional examination developed for use in the United
9 States for the purpose of meeting a state board examination or a
10 part thereof.
11 (2) Beginning on the effective date of the amendatory act
1 that added this subsection, the department in consultation with
2 the appropriate board shall update or supplement or cause to be
3 updated or supplemented any examination or portion of an
4 examination that is affected by any changes in Michigan law.
5 This update or supplementation shall occur within 6 months after
6 those changes are effective.
7 (3) (2) An
individual who fails to pass a required
8 examination may be reexamined to the extent and in a manner
9 determined by the board.
10 (4) (3) The
department shall give public notice of the
11 time and place of a required regular initial licensure or
12 registration examination or evaluation in a manner it considers
13 best not less than 90 days before the date of the examination or
14 evaluation.
