A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 4133 AS INTRODUCED 2-1-05

The bill would amend the Revised Judicature Act to repeal Section 1831.  Section 1831 prohibits civil process from being served on any elector entitled to vote in an election during the day that an election is being held and also prohibits civil process from being served or executed on a Sunday.  (However, an exception is currently provided for service of a restraining order and certain writs on election days and Sundays if sufficient cause is shown by affidavit to the satisfaction of a circuit court judge.)

MCL 600.1831
