A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILLS 5565-5567 AS INTRODUCED 1-19-06

Each of the bills would amend a different zoning act to add the following language:

The zoning ordinance may provide for a mix of land uses and activities in a district or may provide for the separation of different land uses and activities in different districts, or both.

House Bill 5565 would amend the Township Zoning Act (MCL 125.271).  House Bill 5566 would amend the County Zoning Act (MCL 125.201).  House Bill 5567 would amend the City and Village Zoning Act (MCL 125.581).

[The zoning acts allow the legislative body of a local unit of government to regulate the use of land and structures by dividing the unit into "districts" and then adopting regulations designating the permitted uses of land, buildings, and structures in those districts.]
