ROSA PARKS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY
House Bill 5682
Sponsor: Rep. Morris Hood III
Committee: Transportation
Complete to 3-13-06
A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5682 AS INTRODUCED 2-15-06
The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to designate I-96 in Wayne County from its intersection with I-75 continuing west to the intersection with US-24 as the "Rosa Parks Memorial Highway."
[Public Act 258 of 2005 originally created the Rosa Parks Memorial Highway. House Bill 5682 would amend that act to correct the description of the highway, which originally referred to an intersection with M-24 rather than US-24.]
FISCAL IMPACT:
Section 2 of Public Act 142 indicates that the state transportation department shall only provide for the erection of suitable markers indicating the name of the highway "when sufficient private contributions are received to completely cover the cost of erecting and maintaining those markers." As a result, the bill has no state or local fiscal impact.
