STAGGERED TERMS: HOME RULE CITY S.B. 517 (S-1): FLOOR ANALYSIS

CONTENT
The bill would amend the Home Rule City Act to specify that, notwithstanding any charter provision, a home rule city could provide by resolution for the terms of office of its elected officials and provide for staggered terms, including the provision of terms longer than allowed under the charter in order to facilitate the staggering of terms.


Also, notwithstanding any charter provision, the city could provide by resolution for any election provision that was consistent with the Michigan Election Law.
