The bill would amend the Public Health Code to revise the staffing requirement for the operation of a nontransport prehospital life support vehicle designated as providing basic life support.
The Code requires that such a vehicle be staffed 24 hours per day, seven days per week, with at least one emergency medical technician (EMT). Under the bill, the EMT would have to be either on board the vehicle, or, if approved by the local medical control authority, at the emergency scene.
