Under the Michigan Memorial Highway Act, approximately two dozen sections of highway are designated to memorialize veterans of foreign and domestic wars. It has been suggested that a section of highway in Clare County be dedicated to county residents who have served in the military.

CONTENT
The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to name the portion of US-10 in Clare County the "Clare County Veterans Memorial Highway".

Proposed MCL 250.1091

ARGUMENTS (Please note: The arguments contained in this analysis originate from sources outside the Senate Fiscal Agency. The Senate Fiscal Agency neither supports nor opposes legislation.)

Supporting Argument Those who have served this country in the military have done so at great sacrifice to themselves and their families. Naming a portion of road for Clare County veterans would be an appropriate way to demonstrate gratitude for their contributions to the preservation of democracy.
