TRANSFER OF TITLE H.B. 6187: FLOOR ANALYSIS

House Bill 6187 (as reported without amendment)
Sponsor: Representative David Palsrok
House Committee: Transportation
Senate Committee: Transportation

CONTENT
The bill would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code to revise a provision related to the effective date of the transfer of title of a motor vehicle. Currently, upon the delivery of a motor vehicle and the transfer, sale, or assignment of the title or interest by a person, including a dealer, the effective date of the transfer is the date of execution of either the application for title or the assignment of the certificate of title. The bill would delete reference to the date of execution, and would refer to the date of signature on either the application for title or the assignment of the certificate of title by the purchaser, transferee, or assignee.
