CONTENT
The Joint Capital Outlay Subcommittee has approved Senate Concurrent Resolution 14, which would increase the total authorized cost of the Iron Ore Museum project by $300,000, from $500,000 to $800,000. The project was originally appropriated as a capital outlay grant through the Department of State in Public Act 291 of 2000. Since that time, the Department of History, Arts, and Libraries, through its Museum Section of the Michigan Historical Program, has raised private gifts and donation revenue for expansion of the museum.

The resolution would allow for the receipt and use of the private grant and gift funds and increase the project cost by $300,000 to recognize the additional support. The total authorized cost of the project would be increased by the resolution and be set at $800,000: $500,000 from the State General Fund, and $300,000 from private revenue.

FISCAL IMPACT
The resolution would have no fiscal impact on State or local government. The additional revenue authorized in the resolution would come solely from private sources.
