SUBSTITUTE FOR

 

SENATE BILL NO. 567

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1972 PA 106, entitled

 

"Highway advertising act of 1972,"

 

(MCL 252.301 to 252.325) by adding section 7a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 7a. From the effective date of the amendatory act that

 

added this section until December 31, 2008, the department shall

 

not issue a permit for a sign unless the applicant surrenders a

 

previously issued permit. A permit issued pursuant to this section

 

shall comply with this act. Except for any sign removed in

 

accordance with section 19, if a sign for which a permit has been

 

issued is removed for any reason, the permit holder may notify the

 

department of the sign's removal and exchange the permit for the

 

removed sign for an interim permit with no designated sign

 


location. If a sign has been removed from an area that is

 

nonconforming under applicable zoning designations, any sign issued

 

under an interim permit shall not be in a nonconforming area under

 

applicable zoning designations. An interim permit shall be

 

surrendered with an application for a permit for a sign.

 

     Enacting section 1.  This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless Senate Bill No. 568                                    

 

            of the 93rd Legislature is enacted into law.
