      A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

by amending section 1538 (MCL 380.1538), as added by 1988 PA 339.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

 1        Sec. 1538. (1) An applicant shall pay to the department of

 

 2  education, as a condition of having the application evaluated for

 

 3  conformance with the application requirements, the following

 

 4  fees:

10        (2) Except as otherwise provided by an administrative rule

 

11  in effect on October 1, 1988, or as otherwise provided by law, a

 

12  certificate, permit, authorization, endorsement, or approval, and

 

13  the renewal of a certificate, certificate reinstatement, or

 

14  authorization issued pursuant to subsection (1) is valid for 5

 

15  years.

 

16        (3) An individual who holds a valid teaching certificate

 

17  with a school counseling endorsement is not required to hold a

 

18  school counselor license to serve in a counseling role, as the

 

19  role is defined by the superintendent of public instruction.

 

20        Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

21  unless Senate Bill No. 673 of the 93rd Legislature is enacted

 

22  into law.
