A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 411u.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 411u. (1) If a credit card or debit card is used for
payment in a consumer transaction, a person engaged in the conduct
of trade or commerce shall not issue or deliver a receipt to the
consumer that displays any part of the expiration date of the card
or more than the last 4 digits of the consumer's account number.
(2) A person who violates subsection (1) is guilty of a
misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than $1,000.00.
(3) As used in this section, "trade or commerce" means that
term as defined in section 2 of the Michigan consumer protection
act, 1976 PA 331, MCL 445.902.
