A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 85.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 85. A person who tortures another person is guilty of a
felony punishable by imprisonment for life or any term of years.
As used in this section:
(a) "Sadism" means conduct that subjects a victim to extreme
or prolonged pain or humiliation and is inflicted to produce
suffering or for the offender's gratification.
(b) "Torture" means the intentional, nonconsensual infliction
of intense or severe physical pain for various purposes, including,
but not limited to, sadism, coercion, or punishment.
