A bill to amend 1846 RS 12, entitled
"Of certain state officers,"
(MCL 11.4 to 11.5) by adding section 6.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 6. To preserve public confidence in the purity of
elections, the secretary of state shall not serve as an actual or
honorary official in the campaign of a candidate for federal or
state office that is the subject of an election in this state,
unless he or she is the candidate.
