A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled
"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"
(MCL 324.101 to 324.90106) by adding section 11547b.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 11547b. (1) The department shall establish a program to
provide grants for the cleanup or collection and the disposal of
solid waste from single-family and multi-family dwellings in a city
that meets all of the following requirements:
(a) Has a population of not less than 750,000.
(b) Charges not less than $300.00 annually per household for
residential solid waste collection and disposal service.
(c) Does not provide residential bulk waste collection or
disposal service.
(d) As a result of conditions set forth in subdivisions (b)
and (c), is experiencing an environmental health crisis, as
determined by the director.
(2) An application for a grant under this section shall be on
a form provided by the department and shall contain information
required by the department.
(3) The department shall provide information about and
applications for grants under this section upon request.
