A bill to amend 1953 PA 232, entitled
"Corrections code of 1953,"
(MCL 791.201 to 791.283) by adding section 220j.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 20j. All state correctional facilities shall be operated
by the department. The department shall not contract with a private
vendor for the operation of a state correctional facility. As used
in this section, "state correctional facility" means a facility
that houses prisoners committed to the jurisdiction of the
department, but does not include a community residential home, as
that term is defined in section 65a.
