SENATE BILL No. 1315

     A bill to amend 1961 PA 236, entitled

 

"Revised judicature act of 1961,"

 

(MCL 600.101 to 600.9947) by adding section 1350a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1350a. In any civil or criminal jury trial, all of the

 

following apply:

 

     (a) The court shall instruct the jury on the applicable law

 

before the jury hears the closing arguments in the case.

 

     (b) The court shall allow jurors to make written notes during

 

the trial.

 

     (c) Before a recess or other delay occurs in the trial, the

 

court, whenever possible, shall inform the jury as to the expected

 

length of the recess or delay.
