House Bill 5533

Sponsor:  Rep. Paul Condino

Committee:  Transportation

Complete to 4-16-08

A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 5533 AS INTRODUCED 12-6-07

The bill would amend the Michigan Vehicle Code.  Currently, the code requires the revocation of a driver or chauffeur license for any combination of three convictions within 10 years of certain alcohol-related driving offenses.  These include, generally speaking, operating while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or a controlled substance; operating while visibly impaired; operating with an unlawful bodily alcohol content; and operating a commercial vehicle with certain alcohol content.  House Bill 5533 would eliminate the reference to the 10-year period.
