A SUMMARY OF HOUSE BILL 6029 AS INTRODUCED 4-30-08
The bill would amend the Michigan Memorial Highway Act to designate Highway M-188 in Eaton County as the "Elgie G. Hanna Memorial Highway.
[According to press accounts, Elgie G. Hannah was a resident of the VFW National Home for Children in Eaton Rapids and a member of the Eaton Rapids High School Class of 1968; he was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968.]

FISCAL IMPACT:
Section 2 of the Michigan Memorial Highway Act indicates that the state transportation department shall only provide for the erection of suitable markers indicating the name of the highway "when sufficient private contributions are received to completely cover the cost of erecting and maintaining those markers." As a result, the bill has no state or local fiscal impact.
