House Concurrent Resolution 104 (as adopted by the House)
Sponsor: Representative Morris Hood, III
House Committee: Appropriations
Senate Committee: Appropriations

Date Completed: 12-18-08

CONTENT
House Concurrent Resolution 104 would authorize construction and set the total project cost for the Saginaw Valley State University - Health Sciences Facility project. Planning authorization for this project was included in Public Act 278 of 2008. This project involves the construction of an 89,980-square-foot facility to house the College of Health and Human Services including the departments of Nursing, Kinesiology, Occupational Therapy, Health Sciences, and Social Work.

FISCAL IMPACT
Approval of the resolution would set the total authorized cost of this project at $28.0 million. Consistent with other State Building Authority (SBA) projects for universities, funding is based on a 75/25 State/institution match. The project represents new SBA bond debt obligations of $21.0 million. Another concurrent resolution (authorizing conveyance of the property to the SBA and a lease between the SBA, State, and institution) will be necessary to implement SBA funding for this project
