A bill to amend 1972 PA 222, entitled
"An act to provide for an official personal identification card; to
provide for its form, issuance and use; to regulate the use and
disclosure of information obtained from the card; to prescribe the
powers and duties of the secretary of state; to prescribe fees; to
prescribe certain penalties for violations; and to provide an
appropriation for certain purposes,"
(MCL 28.291 to 28.300) by adding section 2a.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 2a. (1) An official state personal identification card
issued under this act shall not contain either of the following:
(a) A radio frequency identification device.
(b) Any other device capable of having stored information read
by a remote receiver, if the device and remote receiver can share
information when they do not have a clear line of sight between
them.
(2) As used in this section, "radio frequency identification
device" means an electronic device that stores information and is
designed to transmit that information by means of radio waves to a
receiver.
