A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled
"The Michigan penal code,"
(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 357c.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 357c. A person shall not remove scrap metal from a
utility pole, telecommunications company property, government
property, utility property, or a jobsite or offer for sale scrap
metal stolen from 1 or more of those locations and belonging to
another person, without the consent of the owner. A person who
violates this section is guilty of a felony punishable by
imprisonment for not more than 5 years or a fine of not more than
$10,000.00, or both. As used in this section, "scrap metal" means
copper or copper alloy or aluminum or aluminum alloy, or both.
