SENATE BILL No. 430

 

 

April 24, 2007, Introduced by Senators BIRKHOLZ, McMANUS, PRUSI and ALLEN and referred to the Committee on Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1994 PA 451, entitled

 

"Natural resources and environmental protection act,"

 

(MCL 324.101 to 324.90106) by adding section 74130.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 74130. (1) The Great Lakes state park preservation fund

 

is created within the state treasury.

 

     (2) The state treasurer may receive money or other assets from

 

any source for deposit into the Great Lakes state park preservation

 

fund. The state treasurer shall direct the investment of the Great

 

Lakes state park preservation fund. The state treasurer shall

 

credit to the Great Lakes state park preservation fund interest and

 

earnings from fund investments.

 

     (3) Money in the Great Lakes state park preservation fund at

 


the close of the fiscal year shall remain in the fund and shall not

 

lapse to the general fund.

 

     (4) The department shall expend money from the Great Lakes

 

state park preservation fund, upon appropriation, only for 1 or

 

more of the following purposes:

 

     (a) Management of the Great Lakes state park created in

 

section 74127.

 

     (b) Administration of parts 325 and 761.

 

     (c) Maritime history, underwater archaeology, and materials

 

conservation.

 

     (d) Park and recreation planning and enhancement of recreation

 

opportunities.

 

     (e) Intentional sinking of vessels.

 

     (f) Tourism research and marketing.

 

     (g) Heritage education.

 

     (h) Law enforcement.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless all of the following bills of the 94th Legislature are

 

enacted into law:

 

     (a) Senate Bill No. 429.                                    

 

           

 

     (b) House Bill No. 4638.            

 

           

 

     (c) Senate Bill No. 431.
